Commissions – I would love to work with you to commission a work. A new commissioned work can be anything from a short piano piece, chamber work, sound installation, or fully staged dramatic work. I am very receptive to collaborations being something we plan and work together on developing a vision for. The costs of commissioning a work from me are primarily the costs of getting it performed, I keep very little for myself and I’m very transparent about the budget so you know where your resources are going.

Lessons in composition– My training is something I had to put myself through because music school wasn’t giving me the tools I was looking for. I studied how composition was it taught by Nadia Boulanger, Nikolai Zverev, Arnold Schoenberg, and most of all J.J. Fux.

There are some things I believe are objective realms of competence that can be acquired that have helped me in composition. I know from teaching these for over 10 years and seeing the results of them that skill in these areas always produces an increase in fluency of the composer.
-Pianistic ability in improvisation and performance
-Knowledge of harmony
-Skill in counterpoint
-Knowledge of form
-knowledge of history

My rate is $80 per hour with half hour lessons available for $40. It is a high rate, but it is far cheaper than a conservatory education.
